In the German books, Iznogoud is known as "Isnogud". The series was originally published in Germany by Ehapa and Delta Verlag GmbH. In 1989-90, three "Nightmares of Iznogoud" books with unique covers were published separately by B&L (Boisel-Löhman). In addition, there were two pocket-sized children's novel-style books published in 1991, mainly text based. In 1997, a "best of" collection was published by Delta, and was the last new German publication for nearly 10 years, as the older series books all went out of print. Finally around 2006 publication began again: first with a three-volume hardcover collection of the first 24 Iznogoud books published in limited edition by Luxus, and then with a series of 9 books by Ehapa collecting the entire Iznogoud series--including the previously unpublished in German books 25-27.
